PHS donated a gift basket to the Syracuse Boys & Girls Club to be auctioned off on May 17 at the annual Syracuse Boys & Girls Club fundraising dinner. The theme of this year’s PHS gift basket is “Celebrate Summer with Picnic & BBQ”. Visit our website after May 17 to find out how much money our basket raised at the auction.

PHS will host the fall Central New York User Meeting for current Immunization Registry Participants. The meeting will be held at the Comfort Inn & Suites in North Syracuse, New York. The featured presentation will be given by the New York State Department of Health.
Susan Anderson and Tina Skinner of PHS had the opportunity to meet one on one with students from three different classes. The students were taught about Business Development and Information Technology, and the skill sets required for such careers. Role playing was included to show the students how they can work on those skills today. PHS is honored to help the youth in our community.
Susan Anderson, Business Development Consultant for PHS attended the 2nd Annual World Congress Leadership Summit in Boston on The Road to Interoperability. Topics focused on Innovative Public and Private Initiatives in Healthcare Information Exchange, RHIOs, EHRs, and Consumer Portals.
Every year PHS participates in the JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge to raise money for charity. Our employees spend weeks training to participate in the event. Visit our website later this month to see pictures of our employees at the finish line!
Representatives of the PHS Immunization Registry Team attended the 2007 New York State Immunization Meeting held at the Otesaga Hotel, Cooperstown, NY. The Agenda included updates on vaccines and NYS disease outbreaks. The keynote speaker on Tuesday was Paul Offit, MD, Chief of Infectious Disease from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
PHS sponsored the Syracuse American Heart Association Walk. The Syracuse area raised over $500,000 to help fight Heart Disease.
Representatives of the PHS Software Engineering Team joined the Upstate New York Oracle Users Group (UNYOUG) and attended a quarterly meeting at Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY. Participating in the quarterly meetings gives the Engineers an opportunity to exchange information on products, services, and technical issues related to Oracle. It’s also a great way to meet other technical experts who share a common interest.
Representatives of the PHS Immunization Registry Team attended the NIC in March. The conference is sponsored by the CDC and gives attendees a chance to learn about the latest updates in immunization practices and immunization information systems. Workshops are available throughout the weeklong conference to allow for meeting national CDC representatives and networking with colleagues across the U.S. PHS has been a presence at this conference for the past eight years, sharing their experiences and learning from what others are doing nationwide.

The Business Development Team attended a New Member Orientation at The Syracuse Chamber of Commerce to introduce PHS services to the Syracuse community and to learn how the Chamber interacts with small businesses.
PHS feels it is important to give to those in need during the Holiday Season. This year a food drive was selected as the charity to support. Employees collected non-perishable food for donation to The Syracuse Rescue Mission.
