Company Overview

In 2003, PHS was awarded a CDC-sponsored contract by the University of Rochester to develop an adult immunization tracking database. This contract was part of a two-year demonstration project being conducted in five cities across the United Sates. The Racial and Ethnic Adult Disparities Immunization Initiative’s (READII) goal was to improve influenza and pneumococcal vaccination rates in ethnic groups for adults 65 years of age and older.

PHS worked closely with the Rochester READII team of hospital and medical staff to design and create a business model that would track intervention and immunization information. PHS defined project objectives including system requirements, development of site-specific databases, and creation of training documentation and software specifications.

After the READII project concluded in January 2006, the seven clinical sites located in the Rochester, NY area requested use of the database for continued pneumococcal and flu outreach initiatives. PHS modified the READII database to meet the ongoing intervention needs of the individual clinic sites. Today these clinics continue to actively use the READII database and have seen improved flu and pneumococcal immunization rates in both the African American and the Hispanic populations.
